Paw Paw Village Players One-Acts Twenty
Our twentieth annual one-acts festival promises to be our best yet! We will accept scripts of 15 minutes or less with minimal stage requirements. Strong language and adult content will not disqualify any script, but we are a family theater so please try to keep that in mind when choosing which script to send us. All scripts must include a brief synopsis. The deadline is December 9th, 2016. Any scripts received without a synopsis or after the deadline will not be considered. Scripts received via snail mail will be recycled. We will accept scripts via our website only in doc/docx or pdf format to the address below. Our show usually consists of 7 or 8 plays in an evening with a run of 5 shows including a matinee. The run will be in February 2017. At the end of the run, the top 3 are chosen by a panel of judges and prizes of $150, $100 & $50 are presented.
We are now accepting short, one-act plays of 15 minutes or less. We have a $10.00 entry fee that includes up to three scripts per entry. Simple sets and simple props is the rule of thumb. Language and subject matter are up to you, but we are a family playhouse so please keep that in mind when selecting what you will send.
Please include a brief synopsis and short playwright bio on page one of the file. Please do not mail hard copies of plays to the Paw Paw Village Playhouse. The deadline is December 9th. Scripts received via “snail mail” or after the deadline will be recycled.
If you are a veteran actor and would love to get back up on the stage, but just don’t have a lot of time to invest, this is a great show. You can accept a role in one short play, or as many as you like (at the directors’ discretion). If you have never been on the stage, this is an awesome way to get your feet wet. It’s also a good way to just keep honing your acting skills. Check to see when auditions are being held!
Stage hands & Techies:
Volunteer help is ALWAYS welcome. Extra hands on stage between acts or in our tech booth are fun ways to be involved in the theater. If you are interested in one of these rewarding positions, please come to the auditions. It also wouldn’t hurt to fill out our volunteer form.
Always wanted to try your hand at directing? This is the best place to start! Besides being short plays with minimal sets and props, there is almost always a veteran director around to give you tips if you want them. If you are interested in directing, please email gro.pvpp@sreyalpegalliv as soon as possible.
As you can see, the Paw Paw Village Players One-Acts Festival has a lot of great opportunities. Don’t miss out! Let us know what your theater interest is and we will find something for you!
