Paw Paw Village Players One-Acts Festival
Every year for the last twenty-two years, the Paw Paw Village Players has held our one-act play festival. This has always been a playwright contest, complete with cash prizes. It has also been a golden opportunity for first-time actors, techies and playwrights to “get their feet wet” in the theater. Or even for seasoned actors who just don’t have the kind of time needed to participate in full length plays due to that whole “life” thing.
Unfortunately, over the last four or five years, attendance at community theater plays, in general, has dropped off so much that Village Players can no longer afford to have a one acts festival. Getting audiences is hard enough, but getting actors to audition is very difficult as well. We appreciate all the playwrights over the years who have submitted scripts and even attended some of our festivals. It is with an extremely heavy heart that the Paw Paw Village Players is canceling our One-Acts Festival program.
